New Round of State Polls Have More Bad News for Romney

The bad news keeps rolling in this week for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Fifteen new state polls were released since Thursday at the time of this writing, including multiple battleground states. Romney has led President Barack Obama in only two of them. All of these new polls were taken since the controversies surrounding the Romney campaign began last week.

Georgia

First, the good news. Romney has a commanding lead in Georgia. An Insider Advantage poll puts Romney with a 21 point lead over Obama, 56-35 percent. The poll of 483 likely voters had a 4.5 percent margin of error.

Iowa

Romney and Obama split Iowa in two new polls. Rasmussen has Romney ahead by 3 points, 47-44 percent. They surveyed 500 likely voters with a 4.5 percent margin of error. An NBC/WSJ/Marist poll found Obama ahead, 50-42. That poll surveyed 898 likely voters with a 3.3 percent margin of error.

Nevada

The bad news for Romney begins in Nevada. Two new polls have Obama ahead. A CNN/Opinion Research poll has Obama up 3 points, 49-46 percent. The poll surveyed 741 likely voters with a 3.5 percent margin of error. Rasmussen also found Obama ahead, 47-45 percent. That poll surveyed 500 likely voters with a 4.5 percent margin of error.

Wisconsin

Three new polls of Wisconsin all show Obama with a lead. Rasmussen polled 500 likely voters, and found Obama ahead by 3 points, 49-46 percent, with a margin of error of 4.5 percent. Public Policy Polling surveyed 842 likely voters, finding Obama with a 7 point lead, 52-45 percent, with a 3.4 percent margin of error. And anNBC/WSJ/Marist of 968 likely voters poll found Obama ahead by 5 points, 50-45 percent, with a 3.2 percent margin of error.

Colorado

An NBC/WSJ/Marist poll of Colorado again found Obama ahead of Romney. The president led by 5 points, 50-45 percent. The poll of 971 likely voters had a margin of error of 3.1 percent. Obama has had a small, fairly consistent lead in Colorado since August, only trailing or tied in four polls.

Michigan

A new Detroit News poll shows Obama increasing his lead in Romney's home state. Obama is ahead by over 14 points, 52-37.8 percent. The poll of 600 likely voters had a 4 percent margin of error. Obama led by six points in the last Detroit News poll.

Pennsylvania

A new We Ask America poll of Pennsylvania found Obama in the lead. The poll of 1,214 likely voters had Obama ahead of Romney 48-42 percent, with a 2.9 percent margin of error. Obama hasn't trailed in Pennsylvania sinceFebruary.

Florida

We Ask America also polled Florida. Obama led Romney by just under 4 points, 49.1-45.5 percent. The poll surveyed 1,230 likely voters with a 2.8 percent margin of error. Obama has led in five of the last eight polls of Florida.

Connecticut

The president has a double-digit lead in a new poll of Connecticut. The Hartford Courant/University of Connecticut poll put Obama ahead 21 points, 53-32 percent. The poll surveyed 508 likely voters with a margin of error of 4.4 percent.

Massachusetts

Obama continues to enjoy a double digit lead in Massachusetts. A new UMass-Lowell/Boston Herald poll found the president ahead 23 points, 59-36 percent. The poll surveyed 497 likely voters with a 5.5 percent margin of error.

North Carolina

A High Point University poll of North Carolina found Obama with a four-point lead over Romney, 48-44 percent. The poll surveyed 448 registered voters and had a margin of error of 4.7 percent. Romney has led in most polls ofNorth Carolina during this campaign.
