Tedfest 2013 gathers stunning BMW classic cars from Canada and US

As legend has it, Tedfest started out way back 10 years ago as four classic BMW owners hanging out in a driveway and talking into the night. Organizer Ted Kalman kept the same intimate family formula, but the show has grown, year-over-year. Yet again, this year, there was a new record of classic BMWs at the Bradley Museum venue. The threat of rain did not stop BMW fanatics from shining up their Bavarian classics, piling them full of replacement parts, tools and then hitting the road to celebrate Tedfest 2013.

As Kalman points out, the night before is for out-of-towners check-in at the hotel, wash off road film and then share brews and barbeque with their extended (car) family. Many BMW owners from the North Eastern United States, Quebec, all points in Ontario and far away as Calgary, make the trek each year to the park-like setting in this average guy concourse event. At the final roll-in, a total of 155 cars showed up wearing roundel badges in a beautiful display of Bavarian motor work. Classics such as the E30, E30 M3, 2002, 3.0 CSL, E28, E24, E21, E32, E34 were all on parade, some were OEM restorations, some highly modified with motor swaps and forced induction, but all were eye candy. Yours truly, had his E30 BMW 325is all ready to crash the Tedfest party, but a last-minute parts delay meant it wasn't to be... this year.

Kalman is eager to keep Tedfest going on for as long as he can manage it. He aims to keep expanding the event, but retain that grass-roots, uncomplicated approach, as if it were a just few friends hanging out on a driveway chatting about old times.
