Foods That Improve Energy | Raw Food Diet for Energy
It?s no wonder that most people are looking to eat for energy. But what I need to you understand is that there is no one single food that is greater than your overall diet.
Let?s take the example of person X.
Let?s assume that person X eats a diet of fast food, package foods, and very few fruits and vegetables.
Now person X is not feeling very energetic, he wants more energy. Therefore he heads to the local storm and seeks out some type of energy drink or energy food.
The most common type of energy foods that we now see in our grocery stores are energy drinks, chocolate bars, candy, and coffee.
But here?s the problem with these types of quick-fix foods?
When you eat a food, for instance that is loaded sugar, it wreaks havoc on a couple different levels in your body.
For instance, high levels of sugar in the blood cause your adrenal glands to secrete epinephrine, which in turn forces the breakdown of more sugar from your muscles and liver into the blood, which inevitably raises your blood sugar.
At the same time, energy drinks like red bull or monster, are full of caffeine. And caffeine has a very similar effect as sugar on the adrenal glands, causing an increase in epinephrine (or adrenaline) into the body, which again breaks down more sugar into the bloodstream.
The effect of these types of quick-fixes is that they produce a very short term energy surge but lead to long-lasting negative consequences.
For instance, high levels of sugar in the blood cause an increase in insulin, which is a hormone secreted by the pancreas to take sugar out of the blood and store it into the muscles.
It so follows then, that high blood sugar causes high insulin levels, which inevitably remove sugar from the blood, causing you to crash. When this happens, you feel like you need more sugar. As a result, you seek out more of these quick fixes, like sugar and caffeine.
As you can see, this vicious cycle is not something you want to have as a mainstay in your life. It?s not a healthy way of living, it?s not healthy for your adrenal glands and other vital organs inside your body, and it does not do your blood any good.
Alternatively if you are looking for foods that improve energy you need to focus on your overall diet. The reason for this is that the synergistic effect of all the foods you eat will always be greater than one specific food.
So if we go back to our example of person X, he has a terrible diet but then relies on sugar, candy, chocolate, and caffeine for a quick fix.
Now as we know, this does not lead to sustained energy but rather a quick search in energy followed by crashing blood sugar levels.
So the idea is to eat foods that are natural, whole, and full of vital nutrients that you would not get such quick-fix foods?if you can even call them that.
So when we are looking for foods that improve energy we are really looking for foods that have a vital amount of nutrients and minerals vitamins water and life force that are all destroyed by the processing and cooking process.
That leaves us with this simple solution?
REAL Foods That Improve Energy ? For Good!
Eat more living foods.
Living foods are foods that are essentially raw, like pears, apples, bananas, and all other types of fruits and vegetables.
It really isn?t rocket science. If you want more energy, focus on eating foods that are inherently high in energy and that leave you with a sustained level of energy throughout the day.
Natural whole foods will always give you more energy, and sustained energy throughout the day, because they don?t cause a quick surge and crash of blood sugar.
They also provide you with essential food enzymes, which enable better digestion, greater amounts of life force, and vital nutrients which do not exist (at least not to the same degree) in cooked and processed foods.
The other big reason that natural whole foods?specifically raw foods?give you more energy is that they are a very high source of alkalinity. This is important because when your body is alkaline?specifically your blood?it functions as it should.
This is in contrast to what most people experience in the Western world.
Most Westerners? diets are acidic in nature. They consume lots of animal products, processed foods, grains, and sugars, all of which leave an acid residue in the blood.
This becomes a big problem as our blood needs to be slightly alkaline?the opposite of acidic ? to perform its duties.
So how does an alkaline bloodstream give us more energy?
Well the answer is quite simple. When our blood is alkaline our red blood cells are able to flow freely and deliver oxygen to the cells within our body.
When this happens as it should, then we are in state whereby our body produces energy almost effortlessly. It?s almost like driving on the highway at 3 AM?when there is very little traffic.
Conversely, when the blood is acidic, our red blood cells clump together and do not flow freely throughout the body. As a result, our cells do not get the oxygen they required to produce energy.
This is the fundamental physiological reason why you can feel either lethargic or energetic. It comes down to what?s happening in your blood, which is a direct reflection of the foods you?re eating.
So if you want to improve your energy, focus on eating an alkaline-rich diet. And very simply, this means adding more fruits and vegetables in their raw state into your body.
So here are a couple examples to help you out?
Water
Most people are lethargic, tired, and have headaches because they?re dehydrated. By simply drinking more water, you improve your body?s hydration and allow it to use the water that it requires.
A general rule of thumb is to drink half your body weight in pounds, in ounces. So if you weigh 180 pounds, you would drink 90 ounces of water per day. This is ideal in a resting state ? if you?re exercising you?ll need more water.
And that leads me to my next recommendation?
Eat a raw food diet.
Raw foods, as we mentioned previously, are water-rich. That?s because they have not lost their water due to the cooking process.
Plus, instead of worrying about how much water you should be drinking every day, simply add more fruits and vegetables into your diet and you?ll automatically get all the water you need.
A simple way of doing this is by making fresh juices and smoothies.
But I don?t want to leave you hanging, so here?s one of my favorite smoothie recipes that is sure to energize you at any point of the day:
1 banana
1 Apple
1 pear
1 head of Boston or romaine lettuce
1/2 a handful of parsley
the juice of ? a lime
2 to 3 cups of water
* Simply blend all ingredients together in a blender and enjoy.
So I hope this makes sense to you. If you?re looking for foods that improve energy levels all day long, then I encourage you to learn more about how my Eating for Energy program can help you.
