Cricket to launch Samsung Galaxy S4 on June 7

Galaxy S4

$54.99 down payment or $599.99 outright

Arriving fashionably late to the Galaxy S4 party is Cricket, with today's news that it'll carry Samsung's latest smartphone from June 7. The prepaid carrier is offering the Galaxy S4 for $599.99 up-front or on a payment plan with a $54.99 down payment. Naturally, you'll need to pair the device with one of Cricket's service plans, which start at $45 per month. Not a bad deal for one of the top Android phones of the moment, if you're in a Cricket coverage area.

More details in the presser after the break.

Colonial member Palmer has 1st-round lead with 62

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) ? Ryan Palmer was standing in the fairway on his last hole Thursday when his longtime caddie and fellow Colonial member issued a challenge.

James Edmondson, who won his third Colonial club championship last year, told Palmer that a birdie would match the caddie's low round at Hogan's Alley.

"What do you do when you get that thrown at you," Palmer said.

Palmer hit his approach to 5 feet at the 388-yard ninth hole for an 8-under 62 that matched the lowest PGA Tour first round at Colonial. That put him a stroke ahead of John Rollins, who had his best round this season.

For all the rounds Palmer has played at Colonial, where he has been a full dues-paying member since 2010, he had never had such a low score. He generally plays there two or three times a week during the offseason and once or twice during weeks he's not playing the PGA Tour.

"These old men here make me grind because I have to give them so many shots. Maybe that helps," Palmer said, smiling. "Usually in a practice round, I don't think I've shot below 65. You just don't grind a lot. In this situation, you grind a little harder. You are able to focus more. When I'm out here with the guys, I mean half the time I might grab a few (beers) for the back nine."

Graham DeLaet, wearing pants with a plaid design similar to the jacket Colonial winners get, matched Morgan Hoffmann, David Hearn and John Peterson at 64. Matt Kuchar, No. 13 in the world ranking and the highest-ranked player in the 136-man invitational field, was in a group of six players at 65.

Rollins, who like Palmer lives in nearby Colleyville, has playing privileges at Colonial like other PGA Tour players though he doesn't play the 7,204-yard layout nearly as much as Palmer.

"He's a pretty permanent fixture in the men's group and everything that goes on out here," Rollins said.

Palmer, the former Texas A&M player who has three PGA Tour victories, had a bogey-free round, hitting 12 of 14 fairways and 14 of 18 greens in regulation, with his first birdie putt being his longest. He was still even par until his 17-footer on his fifth hole, the 442-yard 14th, that started his stretch of four consecutive birdies. The only other birdie over 10 feet was a 14-footer at the 391-yard sixth hole.

"It's pretty neat. A lot of fun," Palmer said. "Being a member here, we played it so many times, James and I. I felt comfortable over every tee shot. I hit driver almost everywhere that I could. I drove it perfectly today I felt. I hit it close a lot and made a lot of putts from about 5 or 6 feet. ... (Playing partner) Brian Stuard's caddie even made a comment on how comfortable I was because I've done it so many times."

In his nine previous PGA Tour appearances at Colonial, Palmer's only top 10 was a tie for fifth last year. He missed the cut in 2010, the same year he became a full member.

Now he finally leads at Colonial after matching his best-ever round on the PGA Tour.

"This is what I dream about when I play here every year," Palmer said. " This is the one tournament I gear up for the most."

David Toms had an opening 62 when winning at Colonial two years ago. He was tied for the first-round lead that year with Chez Reavie. The only other opening 62 was Patrick Sheehan's in 2005. The course record of 61 is shared by six players, the last Chad Campbell in 2004.

Rollins' only bogey came after his drive at the 431-yard 12th landed in a fairway bunker. But he quickly got that shot back at the 193-yard 13th hole when he hit his tee shot within 7 feet of the cup.

Kuchar's only bogey came at the 241-yard, par-3 fourth , the middle hole of Colonial's famed "horrible horseshoe" because of the layout of a three-hole stretch where that par 3 is sandwiched by the two longest par 4s on the course. But he came right back with a 10-foot birdie at the 472-yard fifth to get to 5 under.

Colonial is one of Kuchar's favorite courses. Plus, the PGA Tour's two-week visit to the Dallas-Fort Worth area for the Byron Nelson Championship and the Colonial provides extra time for him to work with his Dallas-based swing coach.

"I feel like I start coming along maybe the end of this week," Kuchar said. "Things get really clicking."

Defending Colonial champion Zach Johnson shot 69, the 16th time in his last 17 rounds under par at Colonial. The lone exception in that five-year span, when he also won in 2010, was last year's closing 72 that included a two-stroke penalty on the final hole. He had four bogeys and three birdies.

"I think overall more positives than negatives. I'm not going to dwell on too much here," Johnson said. "It's a fairly solid day, a day I didn't shoot myself out of it. I would have liked to have a couple of more birdies."

How I Tricked Myself Into Loving My Workout

I used to hate my workouts. Sure, I did them, but I was frustrated, grumbling, and upset the entire time. I dreaded going to the gym, and did almost anything I could think of to get out of it. At the slightest hint of a cold, I was so relieved to have a good excuse not to work out that I milked it for all I could. Then, something changed.

I actually started to enjoy my workouts. Sure, I?d like to say it had something to do with the endorphins (and maybe it did), but here?s the thing that has completely changed my attitude about working out: I?ve combined working out with something I really love to do?read novels.

At first, reading while working out was just a half-baked attempt to be able to stay on the elliptical for half an hour without going completely insane, but then something shifted. I decided that since my life is so incredibly busy and I love to read novels, I would only allow myself to read novels while working out. I can?t overstate what a difference this simple rule has made for me.

Now I Love to Work Out

I can?t wait to get to the gym. I seriously try to figure out ways to get there, even on days that are not my usual workout days, and it has nothing to do with endorphins. It has everything to do with the fact that I can?t wait to find out what happens next in the awesome novel I?m reading.

OK, so maybe you?re not as freakishly bookish as I am, but is there something you absolutely love that you can somehow tie to your workout? Your favorite podcast perhaps? A bite of chocolate as you finish up? Playboy magazine? I don?t care what it is, but when you connect something you dislike with something you absolutely love, you?re bound to start enjoying your work out more, and when you limit the time you?re ?allowed? to spend on that beloved endeavor to ONLY during workouts, you?ve got the added motivation you?ll need to turn ?meh? into ?yeah!? Want a few more minutes to wrap up that awesome podcast? Then I guess you?ll be staying on the bike a bit longer today, won?t you?

It's a Win-Win

First, it helped me enjoy my workout time far more than I thought was possible, but it also helped me prioritize and recognize that reading novels in my free time was actually cutting into my overall productivity. Now, instead of being hijacked by a really great read, losing sleep, and ignoring my other responsibilities, I simply put the really great book down and know that I?ll get to discover the next chapter during my next workout. Since I enjoy working out so much more, my trips to the gym are happening more frequently and more regularly, so I know I won?t have to wait too long between chapters.

The added benefit of increasing my motivation to get to the gym should be obvious, but in case you?re lost: I?m now in far better shape, I have more energy, and I?m generally happier than I was before I worked out regularly.

What Will it Be for You?

Find something you enjoy so much that it sometimes distracts you from your priorities in life, and then couple it with your exercise routine for at least three weeks. After that, I hope you?ll report back and let me know if it works for you too! I sure hope you can get the same amazing results I have. OK, I?m off to the gym! I just have to find out how this book ends.

Officials say Benghazi suspects under surveillance

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Five men are under round-the-clock U.S. surveillance in Libya, wanted for questioning in the attack last year on the diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya. The White House believes there is enough proof for a military force to seize them as terrorist suspects, officials say, but prefers to wait until investigators have enough evidence to try them in a U.S. civilian courtroom.

The decision not to seize the men militarily underscores the White House aim to move away from hunting terrorists as enemy combatants and toward a process in which most are apprehended and tried by the countries where they are living, or arrested by the U.S. with the host country's cooperation and tried in the U.S. criminal justice system. Using military force to detain the men might also harm fledgling relations with Libya and other post-Arab Spring governments with which the U.S. is trying to build partnerships to hunt al-Qaida as the organization expands throughout the region.

The investigation has been slowed by the reduced U.S. intelligence presence in the region since the Sept. 11, 2012, attacks in Benghazi and by the limited ability to assist by Libya's post-revolutionary law enforcement and intelligence agencies, which are still in their infancy since the overthrow of dictator Moammar Gadhafi.

A senior administration official said the FBI has identified individuals it believes have information or may have been involved in the Benghazi attack and is considering options to bring those responsible to justice. But taking action in remote eastern Libya would be difficult. America's relationship with Libya would be weighed as part of those options, the official said. The official and others familiar with the operation spoke only on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the effort on the record.

The Libyan Embassy did not respond to multiple requests for comment.

Waiting to prosecute suspects instead of grabbing them now could add to the political weight the Benghazi case already carries. The attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans weeks before President Barack Obama's re-election. Since then, Republicans in Congress have condemned the administration's response to the attack and its aftermath, criticizing the level of security, questioning the talking points provided to U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice for her public appearances to explain the attack and suggesting the White House tried to play down the incident to minimize its impact on the president's campaign.

Republican lawmakers continue to call for the Obama administration to provide more information about the attack. The White House released 99 pages of emails about the talking points drafted by the intelligence community that Rice used to describe the attack. The talking points initially suggested the attacks were part of a series of regional protests about an anti-Islamic film. In those emails, administration officials agreed to remove from the talking points all mentions of terror groups such as Ansar al-Shariah or al-Qaida, because the intelligence pointing to those groups' involvement was still unclear and because some officials didn't want to give Congress ammunition to criticize the administration.

The FBI released photos of three of the five suspects earlier this month and asked the public to provide more information on the men pictured. The images were captured by security cameras at the U.S. diplomatic post during the attack, but it took weeks for the FBI to see and study them. It took the bureau three weeks to get to Benghazi because of security problems, so Libyan officials had to get the cameras and send them to U.S. officials in Tripoli, the capital.

The FBI and other U.S. intelligence agencies identified the men through contacts in Libya and by monitoring their further communications. They are thought to be members of Ansar al-Shariah, the Libyan militia group whose fighters were seen near the U.S. diplomatic facility prior to the violence. The U.S. has kept them under surveillance, mostly by electronic means. There was a worry that the men could get spooked and hide, but so far, not even the FBI's release of surveillance video stills has done that.

U.S. officials say the FBI has proof that the five men were either at the scene of the first attack or somehow involved because of intercepts of at least one of them bragging about taking part. Some of the men have also been in contact with a network of well-known regional Jihadists, including al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb.

FBI investigators are hoping for more evidence, such as other video of the attack that might show the suspects in the act of setting the fires that ultimately killed the ambassador and his communications specialist, or firing the mortars hours later at the CIA base where the surviving diplomats took shelter ? or a Libyan witness willing to testify against the suspects in a U.S. courtroom.

But Rep. Howard P. "Buck" McKeon, the Republican chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, said he is concerned the Obama administration is treating terrorism as criminal actions instead of acts of war that would elicit a much harsher response from the United States.

"The war on terror, I think, is a war and at times I get the feeling that the administration wants to treat it as a crime," he said Tuesday.

Administration officials have indicated recently that the FBI is zeroing in.

"Regardless of what happened previously, we have made very, very, very substantial progress in that investigation," Attorney General Eric Holder told lawmakers last week.

That echoed comments made by Secretary of State John Kerry to lawmakers last month.

"They do have people ID'd," Kerry said of the FBI-led investigation. "They have made some progress. They have a number of suspects who are persons of interest that they are pursuing in this and building cases on."

But options for dealing with the men are few and difficult, U.S. officials said, describing high-level strategy debates among White House, FBI and other counterterror officials. Those confidential discussions were described on condition of anonymity by four senior U.S. officials briefed on the investigation into the attack.

The U.S. could ask Libya to arrest the suspects, hoping that Americans would be given access to question them and that the Libyans gather enough evidence to hold the men under their own justice system. Another option would be to ask the Libyans to extradite the men to the U.S., but that would require the U.S. to gather enough solid evidence linking the suspects to the crime to ask for such an action.

Asking other countries to detain suspects hasn't produced much thus far. In this case, the Egyptian government detained Egyptian Islamic Jihad member Muhammad Jamal Abu Ahmad for possible links to the attack, but it remains unclear if U.S. intelligence officers were ever allowed to question him.

Tunisia allowed the U.S. to question Tunisian suspect Ali Harzi, 28, who was arrested in Turkey last October because of suspected links to the Benghazi attack, but a judge released him in January for lack of evidence.

Finally, the U.S. could send a military team to grab the men, and take them to an offsite location such as a U.S. naval ship ? the same way al-Qaida suspect Ahmed Warsame was seized by special operations personnel in 2011 in Somalia. He was then held and questioned for two months on a U.S. ship before being read his Miranda rights, transferred to the custody of the FBI and taken for trial in a New York court. Warsame pleaded guilty earlier this year and agreed to tell the FBI what he knew about terror threats and, if necessary, testify for the government.

The U.S. has made preparations for raids to grab the Benghazi suspects for interrogation in case the administration decides that's the best option, officials said. Such raids could be legally justified under the U.S. law passed just after the 9/11 terror attacks that authorizes the use of military force against al-Qaida, officials said. The reach of the law has been expanded to include groups working with al-Qaida.

The option most likely off the table would be taking suspects seized by the military to the U.S. detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, which Obama has said he wants to close.

"Just as the administration is trying to find the exit ramp for Guantanamo is not the time to be adding to it," said Morris Davis, the former chief prosecutor for Guant?namo.

Beyond being politically uncomfortable, it's less effective, he said. "There've been a total of seven cases completed since 2001," with six of them landing in appeals court over issues with the legitimacy of the charges.

Hey there everyone, I have this task for Java where I must create a GUI for calculating the area/volume of a circle. Our instructor gave us the hints//reminders and we are supposed to fill in the actual code. Here Is the code for GUI that I have so far:

 import javax.swing.*; import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*;   public class CircleTestGUI extends JFrame implements ActionListener {  // declare GUI components JLabel lblRadiusInput; JTextField txtRadiusInput; JLabel lblEchoInput; JTextField txtEchoInput; JLabel lblAreaOutput; JTextField txtAreaOutput; JLabel lblCircumferenceOutput; JTextField txtCircumferenceOutput; JLabel lblClickToCompute; JButton compute; JPanel panInterface; JPanel panGUI; // declare two global instance variables related to inputs boolean validInput; double radiusInput = 0.0;  public void init( ) {  JPanel panInterface = new JPanel( ); panInterface.setLayout( new GridLayout(1, 1) );  panInterface = createGUI( );  setContentPane(panInterface);  }  public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent userClick) {  // call method to obtain and validate input // perform computations only if method returns true if (validateInput( )) {  if (userClick.getSource( ) == compute) {  // instantiate an object of type Circle // with the valid radius inputted by the user Circle One = new Circle (radiusInput); // echo back the input to the user txtEchoInput.setText(Double.toString(One.getRadius( ))); // call the method to compute the area // convert the numeric answer to a string with four places after the decimal point // set the text in the appropriate JTextField txtAreaOutput.setText(One.toPrecisionFourString(One.computeArea(One))); // call the method to compute the circumference // convert the numeric answer to a string with four places after the decimal point // set the text in the appropriate JTextField txtCircumferenceOutput.setText(One.toPrecisionFourString(One.computeVolume(One))); // a finalizer to free up memory allocation on Circle One One = null;  }  }  }  public JPanel createGUI( ) {  JPanel panGUI = new JPanel( ); panGUI.setLayout( new GridLayout(5, 2, 5, 5) );  // developing input row lblRadiusInput = new JLabel("Please input the radius: ", SwingConstants.RIGHT); panGUI.add(lblRadiusInput);  txtRadiusInput = new JTextField(6); panGUI.add(txtRadiusInput);  // developing command button row for program execution lblClickToCompute = new JLabel("Click button to solve: ", SwingConstants.RIGHT); panGUI.add(lblClickToCompute);  compute = new JButton("Compute"); compute.addActionListener(this); panGUI.add(compute);  // developing output row for echo of the input lblEchoInput = new JLabel("Echoing your input: ", SwingConstants.RIGHT); panGUI.add(lblEchoInput);  txtEchoInput = new JTextField(5); txtEchoInput.setEditable(false); panGUI.add(txtEchoInput);  // developing output row for area lblAreaOutput = new JLabel("The area of the circle: ", SwingConstants.RIGHT); panGUI.add(lblAreaOutput);  txtAreaOutput = new JTextField(15); txtAreaOutput.setEditable(false); panGUI.add(txtAreaOutput);  // developing output row for circumference lblCircumferenceOutput = new JLabel("The circumference of the circle: ", SwingConstants.RIGHT); panGUI.add(lblCircumferenceOutput);  txtCircumferenceOutput = new JTextField(15); txtCircumferenceOutput.setEditable(false); panGUI.add(txtCircumferenceOutput);  return panGUI;  }  public boolean validateInput( ) {  validInput = true;  try {  radiusInput = Double.parseDouble(txtRadiusInput.getText( ));  }  catch (NumberFormatException nfeDouble) {  // give error message when input can't be parsed to double JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "You need to enter a number", "Input Error", JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE); // set boolean variable to false when // received an invalid input validInput = false; // blanking out inputs and any previous outputs // when input is invalid txtRadiusInput.setText(""); txtEchoInput.setText(""); txtAreaOutput.setText(""); txtCircumferenceOutput.setText("");  }  return validInput;  }  }

When I compile and run the code, I get the following errors:

----jGRASP exec: javac -g CircleTestGUI.java CircleTestGUI.java:53: error: cannot find symbol Circle One = new Circle (radiusInput); ^ symbol: class Circle location: class CircleTestGUI CircleTestGUI.java:53: error: cannot find symbol Circle One = new Circle (radiusInput); ^ symbol: class Circle location: class CircleTestGUI 2 errors ----jGRASP wedge2: exit code for process is 1. ----jGRASP: operation complete.

My mind is drawing a blank and I haven't been able to fix the error. Any input on how I could fix it?

    Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

first you dont have a class Circle i think you mean CircleTestGUI on line 51 also you are calling for a radius but you dont have a constructor that needs radius

Consumer group flags high SPF ratings on sunscreen

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Sunbathers headed to the beach this summer will find new sunscreen labels on store shelves that are designed to make the products more effective and easier to use. But despite those long-awaited changes, many sunscreens continue to carry SPF ratings that some experts consider misleading and potentially dangerous, according to a consumer watchdog group.

A survey of 1,400 sunscreen products by the Environmental Working Group finds that most products meet new federal requirements put in place last December. The rules from the Food and Drug Administration ban terms like "waterproof," which regulators consider misleading, and require that sunscreens filter out both ultraviolet A and B rays. Previously some products only blocked UVB rays, which cause most sunburn, while providing little protection against UVA rays that pose the greatest risk of skin cancer and wrinkles.

Despite that broader protection, one in seven products reviewed by the watchdog group boasted sun protection factor, or SPF, ratings above 50, which have long been viewed with skepticism by experts. In part, that's because SPF numbers like 100 or 150 can give users a false sense of security, leading them to stay in the sun long after the lotion has stopped protecting their skin.

Many consumers assume that SPF 100 is twice as effective as SPF 50, but dermatologists say the difference between the two is actually negligible. Where an SPF 50 product might protect against 97 percent of sunburn-causing rays, an SPF 100 product might block 98.5 percent of those rays.

"The high SPF numbers are just a gimmick," says Marianne Berwick, professor of epidemiology at the University of New Mexico. "Most people really don't need more than an SPF 30 and they should reapply it every couple of hours." Berwick says sunscreen should be used in combination with hats, clothing and shade, which provide better protection against ultraviolet radiation.

Some dermatologists say there may be some rationale for using higher SPF sunscreens, since users often don't apply enough of the lotion to get its full effect.

"The challenge is that beyond 50 the increase in UV protection is relatively small," says Dr. Henry Lim, chair of dermatology at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

The SPF number indicates the amount of sun exposure needed to cause sunburn on sunscreen-protected skin compared with unprotected skin. For example, a SPF rating of 30 means it would take the person 30 times longer to burn wearing sunscreen than with exposed skin.

There is a popular misconception that the SPF figure relates to a certain number of hours spent in the sun. However this is incorrect, since the level of exposure varies by geography, time of day and skin complexion.

The FDA itself said in 2011 that "labeling a product with a specific SPF value higher than 50 would be misleading to the consumer." At the time the agency proposed capping all SPF values at 50 because "there is not sufficient data to show that products with SPF values higher than 50 provide greater protection for users." But regulators have faced pushback from companies, including Johnson & Johnson, which argue that higher SPF products provide measurable benefits.

As a result, the FDA says it is still reviewing studies and comments submitted by outside parties, and there is no deadline for the agency to finalize an SPF cap.

It took the agency decades to put in place last year's sunscreen changes. FDA first announced its intent to draft sunscreen rules in 1978 and published them in 1999. The agency then delayed finalizing the regulations for years until it could address concerns from both industry and consumers.

The FDA is also reviewing the safety of effectiveness of spray-on products, which use different formulations from other sun-protection solutions. Among other concerns, the agency is looking at whether the sprays can be harmful when inhaled.

The survey by the Environmental Working Group found that one in four sunscreens sold in the U.S. is a spray product.

"People like the sprays because they are quick to put on and cover a lot of area," said Dr. Darrell Rigel, a dermatologist in New York. "The downside is that you usually have to apply two coats."

More than 76,000 men and women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with melanoma this year and 9,480 are expected to die from the aggressive form of skin cancer, according to the National Cancer Institute. The disease, which is often linked to ultraviolet exposure, is usually curable when detected early.

A tour of the Jolla phone with software head Marc Dillon video

Say hello to the Jolla Phone. Pre-orders for the world's first Sailfish OS device started today and we've called into Helsinki to get the whole story from Jolla's co-founder and software head Marc Dillon. While we know there's a 4.5-inch "high definition" screen (resolution TBC), dual-core processor and 8-megapixel camera, we were kept at arms length during our meeting with an early prototype. So, unfortunately, our full hands-on treatment will have to wait until later today. For now, Marc takes us through the thinking behind the hardware -- and what the notion of the "other half" really means -- right after the break.

Uganda police raid newspaper over general's letter

KAMPALA, Uganda (AP) ? Ugandan police disabled an independent newspaper's printing press after forcibly entering its premises to look for evidence against an army general who recently questioned the president's alleged plan to have his son succeed him, witnesses said Monday.

Alex Asiimwe, the Daily Monitor's managing director, said in a statement that the company was "horrified by this act," and the paper's top editors later issued a joint statement saying press freedom is "under threat" in the East African country. A meeting Monday of the International Press Institute in Amman, Jordan demanded an end to the siege of the newspaper's premises.

About 50 plainclothes police forced their way into the Daily Monitor's premises in the capital, Kampala, and prevented all journalists from leaving, said Henry Ochieng, the newspaper's political editor.

"There are lots of plainclothes individuals inside the premises. You can come in but you can't leave," he said.

News editor Alex Atuhaire said the police presence on the newspaper's premises was "obviously related" to the case against Gen. David Sejusa, who recently wrote to the internal security service asking for an investigation into reports that those opposed to the president's son as a future leader could be assassinated.

Atuhaire said police were treating the newsroom like "a scene of crime."

The Daily Monitor obtained and published Sejusa's letter, which has been dismissed by the army's top leadership as propaganda that undermines unity in the army. Three Daily Monitor journalists have since resisted efforts by the police to have them submit their copy of the letter and to explain how they obtained it.

The Sejusa letter has attracted national attention here because he is the first top official to publicly raise concerns that President Yoweri Museveni, who has held power for nearly three decades, is grooming his son to replace him as president when he retires. The son, a brigadier named Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has been rapidly promoted in the military over the years and now commands the country's special forces. In that position he is in charge of his father's security.

Police spokeswoman Judith Nabakooba said the police secured a warrant to search the newspaper's premises for Sejusa's letter.

"The journalists had been told to give to the police a certain document but somehow they did not hand it in," she said.

Sejusa, who is traveling in Europe, is under investigation for allegedly violating an official code of conduct. Gen. Aronda Nyakairima, the army's top commander, has said Sejusa's letter "champions the agenda of the radical and anarchic political opposition, hence rendering him partisan."

Sejusa's lawyer, Joseph Luzige, said his client is likely to be arrested when he returns to Uganda, the reason he has chosen to stay away until his legal team prepares for any potential cases against him.

Analysts say Sejusa's letter suggests a power struggle among the military elite as the older generation of army officers gradually loses power to the new guard, of which Kainerugaba is the most prominent member. Sejusa is one of the original bush-war fighters who were at Museveni's side when his rebels took Kampala in 1986.

It remains unclear if Museveni, who was re-elected in 2011, will run again when his term expires in 2016. But he faces growing pressure within his party to retire, with rival centers of power emerging as his power fades. Some say Sejusa, a four-star general who has a history of standing up to Museveni, may be positioning himself to become the leader of those within the military who want to discourage Museveni from hanging onto power or propping up his son as a future leader.

Frank Tumwebaze, a government minister who speaks for Museveni, has said Sejusa has "clear presidential ambitions."

Bernard Tabaire, a media trainer with the Kampala-based African Centre for Media Excellence, said the police's heavy deployment at the Daily Monitor's premises was "an affront on media freedom" that also shows "the regime has been rattled by Sejusa's letter."

$590M-plus Powerball: 1 winning ticket sold in Fla.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) ? It's all about the odds, and one lone ticket in Florida has beaten them all by matching each of the numbers drawn for the highest Powerball jackpot in history at an estimated $590.5 million, lottery officials said Sunday.

The single winner was sold at a supermarket in Zephyrhills, Fla., according to Florida Lottery executive Cindy O'Connell. She told The Associated Press by telephone that more details would be released later.

"This would be the sixth Florida Powerball winner and right now, it's the sole winner of the largest ever Powerball jackpot," O'Connell told AP. "We're delighted right now that we have the sole winner."

She said Florida has had more Powerball winners than any other state.

The winner was not immediately identified publicly and O'Connell did not give any indication just hours after Saturday's drawing whether anyone had already stepped forward with that winning ticket.

With four out of every five possible combinations of Powerball numbers in play, lottery executives said earlier that someone was almost certain to win the game's highest jackpot, a windfall of hundreds of millions of dollars ? and that's after taxes.

    Saturday night's winning numbers were 10, 13, 14, 22 and 52, with a Powerball of 11.

Estimates had earlier put the jackpot at around $600 million. But Powerball's online site said Sunday that the jackpot had reached an estimated $590.5 million.

Terry Rich, CEO of the Iowa Lottery, initially confirmed that one Florida winning ticket had been sold. He told AP that following the Florida winner, the Powerball grand prize was being reset at an estimated jackpot of $40 million, or about $25.1 million cash value.

The chances of winning the prize were astronomically low: 1 in 175.2 million. That's how many different ways you can combine the numbers when you play. But lottery officials estimated that about 80 percent of those possible combinations had been purchased recently.

While the odds are low for any one individual or individuals, O'Connell said, the chance that one hits paydirt is what makes Powerball an "exciting game to play."

"There is just the chance that you will have the opportunity and Florida is a huge Powerball state. We have had more winners than any other state that participates in Powerball."

Such longshot odds didn't deter people across Powerball-playing states ? 43 plus Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands ? from lining up at gas stations and convenience stores Saturday for their chance at striking it filthy rich.

Calls by AP to the Publix supermarket outlet in Florida where the winning ticket was sold were not answered Sunday.

Elsewhere, Rich said, lottery officials reported 33 winning tickets for a $1,000,000 prize each were sold around 17 states, led by six tickets in New York. He said lotteries reported 2 winning tickets each for the $2,000,000 PowerPlay, one in New York and the other in South Carolina.

Before the drawing, there was a rush for tickets around the country.

At a mini market in the heart of Los Angeles' Chinatown, employees broke the steady stream of customers into two lines: One for Powerball ticket buyers and one for everybody else. Some people appeared to be looking for a little karma.

"We've had two winners over $10 million here over the years, so people in the neighborhood think this is the lucky store," employee Gordon Chan said as he replenished a stack of lottery tickets on a counter.

The world's largest jackpot was a $656 million Mega Millions jackpot in March 2012. If $600 million, the jackpot would currently include a $376.9 million cash option.

Clyde Barrow, a public policy professor at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth, specializes in the gaming industry. He said one of the key factors behind the ticket-buying frenzy is the size of the jackpot ? people are interested in the easy investment.

"Even though the odds are very low, the investment is very small," he said. "Two dollars gets you a chance."

That may be why Ed McCuen has a Powerball habit that's as regular as clockwork. The 57-year-old electrical contractor from Savannah, Ga., buys one ticket a week, regardless of the possible loot. It's a habit he didn't alter Saturday.

"You've got one shot in a gazillion or whatever," McCuen said, tucking his ticket in his pocket as he left a local convenience store. "You can't win unless you buy a ticket. But whether you buy one or 10 or 20, it's insignificant."

Seema Sharma doesn't seem to think so. The newsstand employee in Manhattan's Penn Station purchased $80 worth of tickets for herself. She also was selling tickets all morning at a steady pace, instructing buyers where to stand if they wanted machine-picked tickets or to choose their own numbers.

"I work very hard ? too hard ? and I want to get the money so I can finally relax," she said. "You never know."

Police clash with youth in Cairo after anti-Mursi protest

CAIRO (Reuters) - Egyptian security forces clashed with young men in central Cairo after a protest by several thousand opponents of President Mohamed Mursi, state news agency MENA reported.

The forces fired tear gas at the youths throwing firebombs and stones at them. Police arrested a number of men, MENA reported.

The Friday protest billed as a major demonstration against Mursi drew only a few thousand people, signaling how momentum for protests that erupted around the second anniversary of the uprising that ousted Hosni Mubarak has steadily evaporated.

Members of "rebellion," an anti-Mursi campaign launched this month, gathered signatures at the demonstration for a petition calling for Mursi's removal and early elections.

Organizers said they have collected 2 million signatures.

Mursi presides over a deeply polarized political landscape and a public suffering from the economic impacts of two years of political turmoil since the 2011 uprising.
